Mothers’ Day Self Care Sunday

It’s the time of year that we celebrate the most important woman in our lives: Mom. Here are 3 TRUE skincare secrets we learned from mom, and a self care Sunday Mothers’ day activity idea for you to celebrate.

SKIN TIPS FROM MOM:

1) Always take off your makeup before bed

This is the best advice you’ll never regret. Sleeping in your makeup is a breeding ground for bacteria all over your pillowcase, and you are more likely to experience eye or skin irritations. Sleeping in your makeup also accelerates signs of aging by dehydrating the skin and promotes free radical damage. Your entire body heals while you sleep, so let your skin go through its renewal process and take off that makeup you’ve had on all day or all night.

2) Wear sunscreen

Many of us have memories of mom smothering us in sunscreen as a child, or shaking their heads while we tended to the sun burns of our teens after ignoring their warnings to cover up and apply SPF. Now that we are a little older, and maybe a little wiser we can appreciate how simple and true these gestures were. We must avoid damaging our skin with harmful burns that can permanently alter our skin’s DNA and speed the aging process.

3) Don’t pick your face

It is a deep act of self care to allow your skin to heal. Picking can spread bacteria and worsen acne and scarring. Using Hydrocolloid pimple patches are a great way to protect your healing blemishes and prevent you from peeling or picking at your skin. Mom knows best.

It can be difficult to come up with gift ideas, especially if you're living in different locations. Quality time, laughter, and memories is the best gift we can give anyone. The good news is you can “self care Sunday” an at-home skincare routine together, or apart over a video call.
