Polignano a Mare: The Prettiest Little Beach City

Polignano a Mare: The Prettiest Little Beach City

Polignano a Mare is, in my opinion, the prettiest little beach city in the world. Built on top of cliffs along the Adriatic coast, the city is filled with lots of beautiful lookouts and features a gorgeous famous beach, Lama Monachile. It has everything you need for a fun getaway weekend: a beach with beautiful water, tons of delicious food options at all different price points and cute little bars. The whole city is walkable too which I love. It’s also super close to other great cities like Monopoli and Alberobello, which are both excellent day trips.

Beaches:

Lama Monachile

Basically the reason why people go to Polignano a Mare, this beach has a gorgeous view. It's a public beach but there is a tiny private section at Fly where you can get chairs and umbrellas that you can order food and drinks to.

Lido Cala Paura

This beach is a little bit of a walk from the old part of the city but it’s not as busy as Lama Monachile and it’s super fun. There's a beach establishment where you can pay a small fee for chairs and an umbrella. The establishment also sells drinks and has a barbecue where you can buy delicious sandwiches like this grilled octopus sandwich that I dream about almost daily.

Restaurants:

Ristorante Da Tuccino

This restaurant is along the port so it has a beautiful view. It’s a little more upscale and everything is delicious.

La Focacceria di Delle Noci Marco

Focaccia Barese is no joke and this focacceria has the best focaccia I’ve ever tasted.

Da Vittorino

This restaurant has a gorgeous view overlooking Cala Paura. The food is amazing and reasonably priced too!

    Bars:

    La Casa Del Mojito:

As you can probably guess, this place serves mojitos. It’s a fun little busy spot where you can grab one of their many different mojito options and sit around the outside of the bar or walk around the old city.

    Cactus

A little hip bar that serves fun cocktails.

    Fly

This restaurant/bar has the perfect view overlooking Lama Monachile. I love to go here for a drink before dinner.

    Aperitivo:

    Appian Way

This place is along one of the main streets and is a wonderful starting point for your night. It has a great aperitivo spread and really good cocktails.

    Caffè Dei Serafini

Located in the main square, this bar has great cocktails (the gin & tonic is amazing) and delicious snacks making it the perfect place for an aperitivo.
