Tweezing has been an effective method of hair removal for a long time. Did you know it has been said Cleopatra used tweezers made of sea shells to remove her hair? Whether you have a little or a lot of fluff to manage, tweezing is a simple, quick, and affordable option. Read below to learn how to easily tweeze at home with salon-like results.
Choose The Best Tool: Precision Tweezers
If your hairs are sliding out of your tweezers, it is likely you are going to end up with breakage while taking an awfully long time to get the job done. When hairs break instead of being removed from the follicle, the regrowth is going to appear almost instantly. The best choice and only tweezers I have been using for years are the ArteStile Point Tip Tweezers. They are high quality and so precise, you’ll get closer to the skin than ever before.
Prepare The Skin
You need a clean surface before any hair removal. Wash your face before tweezing your brows (or any other hair on the face). Exfoliating might also be beneficial to help remove build up and allow for easier hair removal. Softening of the skin with warm water should help to relax the skin and prepare the hair follicles to make it easier to pluck. Don’t forget to pat the skin dry before tweezing.
Use Good Lighting
Always use good lighting when tweezing so you can see what you’re doing. Natural daylight is best if that is available for you, or make sure you have a well lit space inside without any shadows.
How To Tweeze
Use your tweezers with one hand, and use the other hand to hold the skin taught and firmly without altering the shape of your brows. Approach horizontally, as if you were going to scoop it into the tweezer and grip the hair with your Point Tip Tweezers. These tweezers are amazing for fine detailing, when you only need to remove one hair at a time, or very fine thin hairs. Make sure to pull in the direction of hair growth, and start with hairs farther away from your natural brows, slowly working your way into shape, switching back and forth between the brows to be mindful of symmetry.
Finish With Skincare
When you're finished, clean with water or apply your facial toner or some alcohol-free witch hazel. You can also follow up with aloe, shea butter or your favourite moisturizer with clean hands or a cotton pad.
